Oscar Gamble launched 2 homeruns as the Philadelphia Warriors topped the
Hollywood Stars by a score of 7 to 6 at Comiskey Park.
Gamble enjoyed a great day at the plate. He ripping a solo home run in the
1st inning, banged out a single in the 3rd inning, lined a base-hit in the
5th inning and cleared the bases with a Grand Slam homerun (his 2nd of the
season) in the 7th inning. Philadelphia totaled 7 on the afternoon.
Doc Medich(1-0) allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning, and picked up the
victory. Jim Kern was credited with his 2nd save. Tippy Martinez(0-1) was
charged with the loss in relief.
Gamble said, 'It was just all timing. I had pretty good rhythm at the plate
tonight. You've got to take advantage of mistakes when you can. A couple
pitches were definitely up a little bit - right in my zone.'
