One run was the difference at Municipal Stadium as the Cleveland Buckeyes
defeated the Baltimore Orioles 7 to 6.
Cleveland won the game with a run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Chris
Bando drew a walk. Two outs later Bryan Little came up and he ripped a
base-hit scoring the run. Little took second on the throw. Baltimore made
it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Dave Dravecky went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the victory.
Rollie Fingers preserved the game for Dravecky, recording his his 3rd save.
Doug Corbett was the loser in relief. He pitched 1 inning giving up 1 hit and 1 walk.
Jesse Elicker was in a contemplative mood after the tough loss, 'It is really
hard to lose this kind of a game. It may seem weird to some, but it is
easier to take the occasional blow-out loss. It is the ones that just barely
get away that hurt so much - like this one!'
