one-run game at The Shipyard. The final score was the Baltimore Orioles 4,
the Great Lakes Whitecaps 3.
The game was won by Baltimore when they scored a run in the top of the 9th
inning. After an out was recorded, Jim Rice doubled. Nick Esasky came next
and he slapped a base-hit scoring the run. Esasky took second on the throw.
Pete Ladd was perfect in the ninth giving him his 1st save on the season.
Ron Guidry(1-0) allowed 3 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Lee
Smith(0-2) took the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run and 2 hits in 1 inning.
