Jeff Newman had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Manchester Minutemen bested the
Chicago Fire 11 to 8 at Comiskey Park.
Newman enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He banged out a single in the 2nd
inning, popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 3rd inning, hit a
one-base hit in the 5th inning and doubled in the 7th inning. Manchester
bats were hot in the 7th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 3 hits. For
the game Manchester out-hit Chicago 21 to 13.
John Tudor(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 2/3 innings and
allowing no runs. Dave Stieb(0-1) absorbed the loss. He allowed 8 hits and 3
walks in 3 innings.
