TEAM RISP- Expos: 4 for 13 Redbirds: 3 for 10
Dan Driessen had 2 base hits as the Montreal Expos came back to win one over
Columbus Redbirds, 5 to 3.
Montreal came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs using
4 hits. Eric Soderholm led off and started the attack as he stroked a
one-base hit. Larry Herndon stepped into the batter's box and he laid down a
sacrifice bunt. After another out, Greg Pryor then slapped a base-hit
scoring a run. Pryor took second on the throw. Rodney Scott followed and he
lined a single bringing in another run. Scott took second on the throw.
Robin Yount stepped into the box and doubled scoring the final run of the
inning. Enrique Romo pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 2nd save.
Dave Frost(1-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Mike
Marshall(0-1) was given the loss in relief. Steph Paquette was all smiles
after the game, 'To pull a game out in your last at bats, is a beautiful
feeling - and did you see how quiet it got out there? You could have heard a
pin drop when we took the lead. But, hey, that's what makes baseball so
great - as the great sage Yogi Berra says, 'it's not over 'til its over.'
