Catfish Hunter had an impressive outing and Rick Miller collected 2 extra-base
hits and scored 3 times at The Astrodome as the Cleveland Indians beat the
Houston Astros by the count of 5 to 0.
Houston never recovered after Cleveland took the lead in the 3rd inning
scoring a single run on 3 hits. After two outs Miller delivered a base-hit.
Miller swiped second base. Hal McRae then delivered a one-base hit. Joe
Morgan followed and he stroked a base-hit scoring the run. That early
scoring held up. Cleveland finished with 11 hits in the victory.
Hunter(2-1) went the distance for the shutout. Burt Hooton(0-1) was given the
loss. He was touched for 11 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.
