TEAM RISP- Xpress: 1 for 17 Indians: 1 for 9
In a dramatic ending, the Cleveland Indians staged a comeback win over the
Minnesota Xpress by the count of 3 to 2.
Cleveland came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs on 3
hits. Sixto Lezcano led off and keyed the rally when he smacked a single.
Joe Morgan came next and he doubled. Hal McRae then doubled giving Cleveland
the win as 72,800 happy fans joyfully celebrated. Cleveland won despite
being out-hit by Minnesota 10 hits to 5.
Rollie Fingers(2-0) went 2/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the victory.
Dave Laroche(0-1) took the loss in relief. 'Now there is a lesson in
perseverance for you,' McRae noted. 'It was looking pretty dim there for a
while, but we just kept plugging away and it really paid off in spades! And
it was great to see the crowd go crazy there at the end!'
