separated the combatants at game's end. The Houston Astros won by the
slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.
Houston took the lead for good in the 4th inning scoring one runner.
Manchester tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.
Jim Barr(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings.
Barr got help from Ron Reed who was credited with his 1st save. Jack
Billingham(0-1) absorbed the loss.
Chuck Carline was in a sour mood after the game. 'Even you guys up in the
press box know why we lost this game. We made too many mistakes.'
