At Dimaggio Field the San Francisco Golden Seals easily handled the Sacramento
River Cats by the score of 7 to 3.
San Francisco tallied 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning when they came up
with 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Bobby Grich began the San
Francisco spurt when he stroked a base-hit. Vida Blue then let loose a wild
pitch. Dick Dietz then doubled. Willie McCovey got his turn next, but he
was a strikeout victim. Jim Wynn came up to bat and was hit by a pitch.
Orlando Cepeda continued the rally and doubled. Mike Jorgensen got his
chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes. Jim Bibby(1-0) was
helped out by John Hiller who pitched a perfect ninth and recorded his 1st save.
Blue(0-1) took the loss. He allowed 6 runs and 4 hits in 7 and 1/3 innings.
