Billy Williams left the yard and had 2 RBI as the Wyoming Pioneers defeated
the Los Angeles Angels 5 to 3 at Angel Stadium.
Williams was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day
at their team's expense. He tripled in the 1st inning, cracked a solo
homerun in the 3rd inning and banged out a single plating a run in the 5th
inning. Los Angeles went down without a fight in the bottom of the 9th.
The victory was credited to Joe Grzenda(1-0) who went 2 innings, allowing no
runs. Steve Blass(0-2) took the loss. He gave up 9 hits and 1 walk in 6 innings.
