Bill Hands allowed John O'Donnell to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
as the Albuquerque Dukes topped the Los Angeles Angels by a score of 10 to 5
at Chase Field.
Albuquerque went ahead for good in the 3rd inning when they tallied 4 runs on
4 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Bubba Morton who elicited a roar
from the hometown fans when he cracked a two-run shot (his 1st of the
season). Albuquerque had a total of 11 hits for the game.
The victory went to Hands(1-0) who went the distance allowing 5 runs. Jim
Merritt(0-1) was hit with the loss. He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 4
innings of work.
