History was made in Washington as Mickey Lolich(5-4) tossed a no-hitter and the Washington Senators defeated the Idaho Spuds by the score of 2 to 0.
Lolich was spectacular. He only walked one Idaho batter. The tension was mounting with every inning after the 6th. Lolich appeared oblivious himself to the mounting history until two were out in the 9th. Only then, did he allow himself one deep sigh and a slow trip around the mound. Washington managed only 5 on the night.
Galen Cisco(5-5) was hit with the loss. He surrendered 5 hits and 4 walks in 8 innings. 'I gave it everything I had. It's probably the greatest day of my life,' Lolich said. 'I was out there focusing on my catcher's glove, that's all. I just concentrated on pitching my game.'
