The game was deadlocked at 1 after nine full innings. Finally, Columbus pulled the game out in the 11th inning. After two were out Wally Backman ripped a base-knock. Backman took off for second and slid in with a stolen base. McReynolds then banged out a single scoring the run. McReynolds took second on the throw. The game was a scoreless duel until the 8th inning.
