Left fielder Kevin McReynolds had 2 base hits as the Columbus Redbirds beat
the Chicago Fire in 11 innings by a score of 2 to 1.
The game was deadlocked at 1 after nine full innings.  Finally, Columbus
pulled the game out in the 11th inning.  After two were out Wally Backman
ripped a base-knock.  Backman took off for second and slid in with a stolen
base.  McReynolds then banged out a single scoring the run.  McReynolds took
second on the throw.  The game was a scoreless duel until the 8th inning.
Steve Farr(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1/3 of an inning and
allowing no runs. Todd Worrell earned his 1st save.  Charles Hudson(0-1) was
tagged with the loss in relief.
