Jose Canseco had 3 base hits and Orel Hershiser was able to finish what he
started and was credited with a complete game as the Montreal Expos bested
the Portland Beavers 8 to 6 at Fenway Park.
Montreal tallied 3 runs in the 7th inning when they had 4 base hits. After an
out was recorded, Canseco kicked off the action when he doubled. Fred
McGriff stepped up next and he delivered a base-hit plating a run. Joel
Youngblood then ripped a single. Luis Salazar followed and he worked the
squeeze play to perfection scoring another baseruner. Shawon Dunston stepped
into the box and doubled scoring the final run of the inning. Montreal
totaled 15 hits on the afternoon.
Hershiser(2-1) allowed 6 runs on the game. Craig Lefferts(0-1) was hit with
the loss in relief. He surrendered 3 runs and 3 hits in 1/3 of an inning.
